June 29

Police at 1:08 a.m. stopped a 24-year-old woman driving on Pioneer Avenue and arrested her for driving under the influence.

A caller at 7:38 a.m. reported a man asleep in the post office lobby who smelled of alcohol. Police contacted the man and told him to move along.

A woman at 10:50 a.m. reported people in the Bartlett Street area shot a moose with a pellet gun.

A man at 12:15 p.m. reported an injured sea otter on the Spit. Police contacted the Alaska SeaLife Center.

A caller at 12:42 p.m. reported an illegal campsite on a trail by the Sterling Highway. Police left a note at the campsite advising the campers to move.

A caller at 6:31 p.m. made a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint of a person driving south on the Sterling Highway. Police stopped the suspect and arrested a 36-year-old woman for driving under the influence and two counts of endangering a minor.

A woman at 7:20 p.m. reported an abandoned baby moose in the Pushki Road area. Police notified an Alaska Wildlife Trooper.

The animal control officer at 7:41 p.m. reported someone stole a black kitten from the shelter.

June 30

A caller at 4:50 a.m. reported a drunk man at a Pioneer Avenue parking lot. Police arrested a 22-year-old man for DUI.

Police at 5:12 a.m. went to an expected death of a 65-year-old man at his Lake Street home.

A caller at 10:58 a.m. reported a dog was attacked by another dog at a Spit campground. Police provided the caller with the emergency veterinary care number.

A woman at 11 a.m. reported her wallet was stolen at a Pioneer Avenue bar the night before.

A woman at 4:09 p.m. reported she went to the Salvation Army the night before to get boxes and that the man she was with loaded her truck with items from outside and took them to his home.

July 1

A man at 10:42 a.m. reported he found a dead man near Paul Banks Elementary School.

Police at 1:24 p.m. assisted with traffic control for a funeral procession on Pioneer Avenue.

A man at 11:04 p.m. made a REDDI complaint of a driver at Bishop’s Beach. Police responded and arrested a 50-year-old man for DUI.

July 2

A caller at 2:15 a.m. asked police to do a welfare check on a drunk man on the Spit. Police took a 29-year-old man into protective custody.

Police at 12:08 p.m. did parking enforcement on Bunnell Avenue and warned several car owners.

A woman at 2:45 p.m. reported a driver in a cream-colored Toyota driving in the opposite lane on East Hill Road.

A woman at 4:34 p.m. reported tourists parking on East End Road to view moose and causing a traffic hazard.

A woman at 6:38 p.m. reported a bicycle was stolen on Grubstake Avenue.

July 3

A person at 7:46 p.m. made a 911 call of a man in a truck harassing a woman on the Spit.

A man at 8:14 p.m. reported a dead sea otter on the Spit.

July 4

Police at 2:38 a.m. arrested a 25-year-old woman for DUI on East End Road.

A crisis hotline worker at 6:36 a.m. reported a suicidal man. Police responded and the man’s parent was taking him to South Peninsula Hospital.

Police at 8:18 a.m. arrested a 66-year-old man for burning down his motorhome on Jenny Way.

Police at 9:21 a.m. received a third-party report of someone in the water near B-float at the Homer harbor. Police responded and could not find a victim. The person called back and said she was mistaken, the incident was in the Ninilchik area. Police notified Alaska State Troopers.

A caller at 12:06 p.m. reported an assault at Karen Hornaday Park. Police arrested a 60-year-old man for fourth-degree assault.

A man at 2:24 p.m. reported his mother was drunk and out of control at a Sterling Highway address. Police responded.

Police at 3:15 p.m. contacted two men on the Sterling Highway and arrested a 39-year-old man for a probation violation and a 28-year-old man for sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance and also a probation violation.

A man at 4:42 p.m. reported a driver did not yield to pedestrians in the crosswalk on Pioneer Avenue near Heath Street.

A woman at 3:59 p.m. reported a goat was in her yard on Jennifer Place.

A caller at 9 p.m. reported people climbing on a boat on the Spit. Police told the subjects to leave and issued them trespass warnings.

A caller at 9:53 p.m. reported children in a gravel pile with a large hole on the Spit. Police told a child to leave the area.

A man at 9:54 p.m. reported a loud explosion in the Ocean Drive Loop area.

An off-duty officer at 10:06 p.m. reported a driver in a car with an open alcohol container at the airport.

Police at 10:53 p.m. arrested a 46-year-old man for DUI after contacting him on the Sterling Highway.

July 5

A security company at 1:10 a.m. reported glass broken at an East End Road business. Police responded and arrested a 27-year-old man for burglary, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

A caller at 2:20 a.m. reported two drunk men in the road on Pioneer Avenue. Police took a 41-year-old man into protective custody.

A caller at 4 a.m. reported a moose-vehicle collision on East End Road.

A woman at 9:21 a.m. reported a moose with porcupine quills in its nose and mouth on Race Road. Police notified Fish and Game.

A man at 10:37 a.m. reported a license plate stolen from a car.

Police at 1:06 p.m. issued a summons to a 47-year-old man for not having car insurance.

A caller at 3:15 p.m. reported a girl shoplifting at a Pioneer Avenue store. Police charged her with third-degree theft.

A caller at 8:06 p.m. reported a man swimming in the Nick Dudiak Fishing Lagoon and spear fishing. Police were advised this was legal and the Alaska Bureau of Wildlife Enforcement verified this.

July 6

A person at 12:25 a.m. made a 911 call that her boyfriend and son were being combative with her and weapons were involved. Police responded.

An officer at 8:53 p.m. was involved in a crash with no injuries when he turned on emergency lights and tried to pass another car. Police responded and arrested the other driver, a 55-year-old man, for DUI and sixth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.

July 7

A man at 2:02 p.m. reported illegal ATV use on the Spit.

July 8

A woman at 11:43 p.m. reported a problem bear in the Race Road area. Police notified Fish and Game.
