June 8

Police at 9:19 a.m. arrested a 54-year-old man on an outstanding warrant for felony assault.

A harbor officer at 11:18 p.m. reported a theft of life jackets from a “Kids Don’t Float” box and asked police to be on the lookout for the suspect driver and car. Police found the car and driver and contacted a man who said he thought life jackets could be taken home for a future boat trip. Police told the man the jackets were for public use at the time of the start of a boat trip. The man said he would return the jackets.

A woman at 11:42 p.m. contacted an officer on the Spit and said people were fighting with flaming swords near businesses at Fish Dock Road. Police contacted the sword fighters and they agreed to go down to the beach away from businesses.

June 9

A caller at 3:12 a.m. reported seeing a suspicious man working at a Main Street apartment under construction. Police responded and contacted the man. He said he was doing construction work. All was OK.

June 10

Several callers at 1:05 a.m. reported people jumping off the metal dock grating into the harbor. Police could not locate the suspects.

Police at 8:25 a.m. issued a summons to a 58-year-old man for failure to carry motor vehicle insurance.

A woman at 11:36 a.m. reported the theft of her wallet and fraudulent use of her debit card.

A caller at 3:50 p.m. reported theft of propane.

Alaska State Troopers at 5:04 p.m. relayed a “report every dangerous driver immediately” complaint. Police contacted the suspect driver on the Sterling Highway and arrested a 52-year-old woman for driving under the influence.

Police at 10:59 p.m. contacted a 47-year-old man driving on the Sterling Highway and issued him a summons for driving while license suspended.

June 11

A man at 1:40 a.m. reported the theft of a cooler from a campsite at Karen Hornaday Park.

A person at 3:10 a.m. made a 911 call of three young men looking into vehicles and boats on the Spit. Police responded and cited one man for driving in violation of a learner’s permit.

A caller at 10:04 a.m. reported a bear on the Homestead Trail off Roger’s Loop Road. Police notified the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

Several people at 4:58 p.m. made 911 calls of a car in the ditch off West Hill Road.

June 12

A man at 2:40 p.m. reported his iPad Mini was stolen from his car.

A woman at 8:25 p.m. reported a moose calf with a plastic bag in its mouth off Main Street.

June 13

A man at 9:02 a.m. reported the theft of a commercial mixer-grinder from a car parked on Kachemak Drive.

A person at 1:56 p.m. made a 911 call of a young person having a seizure on the Homer Spit Road near Kachemak Drive. EMTs responded and police assisted with traffic control.

A caller at 3:36 p.m. reported eight cars were vandalized while parked on Kachemak Drive.

Police at 7:49 p.m. contacted a 46-year-old woman driving on Kachemak Drive and issued her a summons for driving while license suspended

A caller at 10:05 p.m. asked for help in getting belongings out of a car on Ben Walters Lane. Police responded and provided alternative housing for a woman and a child.
