Longtime Soldotna resident Mr. Robert Paul Manson, 68, died Friday, June 10, 2022, at his home in Soldotna.

No services are planned for the public at this time.

Robert was born March 23, 1954, in Renton, Washington. He moved to Alaska in 1958, living in Kenai and Soldotna. Robert was an auto mechanic and owned R&R Automotive in Nikiski for many years and Rob’s Repair currently. He loved racing cars at Twin City Racetrack.

Rob was one of the kindest, loving, most caring persons you could have met. If you needed something he was there to do it, no questions asked. His love for working on cars was his most favorite thing to do if he was not on the dirt track racing. He also loved to fish on the Kenai when he had a chance. His younger years, if you were looking for him, that would be the first place to look. His daughter Melissa is “The best thing I’ve done in life, and I’m very proud of the woman and mother she became,” he said. He will be greatly missed by family and this community. He impacted so many people. “We love you, Rob. Forever in our hearts. Never forgotten,” his family said.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Dave Manson, and parents, John and Shirley Manson.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Manson of Lake Stevens, Washington; stepsons, Jon Parnell of Nikiski, Eric Parnell of Nikiski and David Parnell of Sterling; and brother, Harvey Manson of Surprise, Arizona
