Seldovia holds carving contest

The Seldovia Craft Invitational Chainsaw Carving Competition starts at 8 a.m. Friday at the Gateway Pavilion near the small boat harbor. Chainsaw artists start preparing logs Thursday night, but the chips begin flying Friday morning. Artists have until 1 p.m. to create their works. A silent auction and judging is then held.

Other Labor Day events in Seldovia include a Guitar Masters concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at Susan B. English School and live music by the 907 Band at 9 p.m. at the Linwood Bar. At 10 a.m. Saturday is the 5k and 10k Mini Marathon. Registration for the race starts at 5 p.m. Friday.
