May 19

A 39-year-old Soldotna man was arrested by the South Peninsula Bureau of Highway Patrol for driving under the influence and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree. The charges followed a traffic stop for a moving violation near mile 89.5 of the Sterling Highway at 9:12 p.m. The vehicle was released to a responsible party. The weapons charge was for having a firearm in the vehicle while impaired. 

May 24

At 12:38 a.m. troopers received a report of a 44-year-old Ninilchik resident attempting to harm herself with a firearm. Alcohol was involved. The woman was taken to a medical facility in Soldotna for a mental health evaluation. A charge of misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree will be forwarded to the Kenai District Attorney’s office.

May 25

A 22-year-old Anchorage man was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for sport fishing in Deep Creek with a treble hook when the waters are only open to a single, unbaited hook. Bail is set at $110 in Kenai District Court.
