State Trooper Report

Alaska State Troopers at 11 a.m. went to a two-car crash near Mile 155 Sterling Highway in Anchor Point. Troopers said a 29-year-old woman driving north in a 1997 Ford Expedition crossed the centerline and hit a 1993 Pontiac Transport van in an offset head-on collision. Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Services volunteers transported the single passenger in the Pontiac, a 53-year-old Anchor Point man, to South Peninsula Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Pontiac driver, a 24-year-old Anchor Point man, the woman and four children in the Ford also were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The 53-year-old Anchor Point man was later taken to an Anchorage hospital where he died on Sunday, Jan. 5, of his injuries. Next of kin was notified.
