Artist offers jewelry classes

Homer artist Art Koeninger offers several jewelry classes this semester through Homer Community Recreation. 

Friday-Sunday is Silversmithing, teaching the fabrication of jewelry and small metal objects. Lost Wax Casting is Oct. 23-25, teaching how to sculpt a model in wax and then making a plaster mold. 

From Nov. 13-15 is Intermediate Silversmithing, continued instruction in jewelry making. Classes meet 6-9 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. Sundays at the Homer High School art room. 

Each class is $150 or $90 for repeat students who have taken two or more classes, plus the cost of materials. A $25 Homer Community Recreation fee is included. To register or for more information, contact Koeninger at 235-1014 or akoeninger@acsalaska.net. Classes are limited to 12 students.

 

Poet reads at Bunnell

Visiting poet Bob Holman reads poetry and presents an excerpt from “Language Matters,” a film by David Grubin on Holman’s work, at 6 p.m. Monday at Bunnell Street Arts Center. 

The excerpt is about the poetry of Wales and includes the Welsh National Poetry Slam. The event is free.
