Assistive Technology visits southern Kenai Peninsula

Margaret Cisco of Assistive Technology of Alaska will visit Homer and Anchor Point on Sept. 4 and 5 to meet with individuals experiencing vision and-or hearing loss and demonstrating assistive equipment that could make everyday life easier.

On Sept. 4 from 1:30-5 p.m., Cisco will be at Anchor Point Senior Center on Milo Fritz Avenue, demonstrating samples of available equipment. After the presentation, she will speak with individuals about specific equipment needs and grant or low interest loan eligibility requirements.

During the morning of Sept. 4 and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 5, Cisco will take appointments at the Independent Living Center, 265 E. Pioneer Ave., Suite 201, Homer. A lift offers access for individuals who have difficulty with stairs.

Cisco has given demonstrations at Homer Senior Center in the past, so this visit is to meet with individuals, show the assistive technology available and determine if there are programs to help individuals obtain the devices.

For more information or an appointment, call the Independent Living Center at 235-7911.
