Bayview Park work party set

A Bayview Park work party will be held at the park, located at the top of Main Street, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 10. Participants are asked to bring rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows and buckets. Some food and snacks will be provided, but volunteers also can feel free to bring picnics.

Working with city of Homer Public Works, Best Beginnings Homer has adopted the park to address safety and general maintenance repairs. Over the past years, BBH has provided funding for a new toddler slide, adaptive swing for children with disabilities, and boulders. Parent volunteers have built and installed stepping logs, a willow fort and small bridges for the children to climb on.

BBH has contracted with Corvus Design of Anchorage to develop a master plan for the park that will include ADA and groundcover upgrades as well as new elements. The master plan will be implemented over several years to allow for additional fundraising as needed. Corvus Design staff will be on hand at the work party to share ideas and gather community feedback for the master plan.

For more information on the party, contact Jenny Martin at 435-7101.
