Candidates announced for HEA board elections

Completed mail-in ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on May 6, 2020 in order to be counted.

The Homer Electric Association has released the names of the candidates who are running for election to the utility company’s Board of Directors, according to a March 11 press release from HEA.

Each director on the board represents a specific district of HEA’s service area, and directors are elected by HEA members in their respective districts. Members can only vote for the candidates in their district.

This year, Districts 1, 2 and 3 have open seats, with six candidates running in these three districts.

In District 1, which represents Kenai, Nikiski and parts of Soldotna, James “Jim” Duffield II of Kenai is running against Erik Hendrickson of Kenai.

In District 2, which represents Soldotna, Sterling and Kasilof, Charles “C.O.” Rudstrom of Soldotna is running unopposed.

In District 3, which represents Kasilof south to Kachemak Bay, Troy A. Jones of Homer, Pete Kinneen of Anchor Point and incumbent Eugene “Jim” Levine of Homer are running in a three-way race.

Election and candidate information, including a map of the districts, is available on the HEA website.

Ballots will be mailed to HEA members on April 6. Completed mail-in ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on May 6 in order to be counted.

HEA members unable to complete a mail-in ballot will have the opportunity to vote at the Annual Meeting of the Members, which will take place on May 7 at Soldotna High School.
