Coast Guard responds to Cook Inlet fuel spill

The U.S. Coast Guard responded to a fuel spill near Port Graham on Saturday.

Several agencies responded to an area in southeastern Cook Inlet after getting a report of a landing craft with a punctured fuel tank on board, according to a Saturday media release.

The 116-foot landing craft was being piloted from Seward to Bristol Bay when it encountered heavy seas which caused a breach in a 9,000-gallon diesel-fuel tank on board.

At the time of the spill, the Coast Guard was reporting winds at 20 miles per hour and 1-foot seas in the area.
