Local graduates

Homer High School graduate Aziza Shemet Pitcher has been named to DePauw University’s Fall 2019 Dean’s List.

The Dean’s List recognizes students who achieve a semester grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Homer High School

Today — JV girls basketball vs Eagle River at 4:30 p.m. at the Grace Christian Cub Classic. Boys JV basketball vs the Grace C Team at 6 p.m. at the Grace Christian Cub Classic.

Friday — JV girls basketball vs Grace JV at 4:30 p.m., and boys JV basketball at 7:30 p.m. vs Grace JV at the Grace Christian Cub Classic. Student Council Lock in overnighting — TBA.

Saturday — Homer Hockey vs Kenai Central at 2 p.m. in Kenai. Boys JV basketball v Wasilla at 10 a.m., and girls JV basketball vs Wasilla at 11:30 a.m. at the Grace Christian Cub Classic. Boys JV basketball vs Eagle River at 2:30 p.m. at the Grace Christian Cub Classic.

Homer Flex School

McNeil Canyon Elementary

Chess Club — After school chess club for grades 2-6 will be held on Wednesdays on Jan 22 and 29, Feb. 5 and 26, and March 4. The club will be held from 3-4:30 p.m.

Jan. 22 — After school ice skating begins (ice dependent). Permission slips are in the office.

Jan. 24 — Star Wars Day, sponsored by the Student Council.

Jan. 31 — Math and Science Night from 6:30-8 p.m. The school will have math and science stations/experiments to explore in the gym. This is a family event.
