Homer Middle School says thanks

The students and staff of Homer Middle School would like to thank Melisse Reichman for serving as our Artist In Residence for two weeks in October.

Melisse taught the process of mask making using newspaper covered with clay as an armature, followed by a layer of paper mache. Many of these masks became part of Animalia, a wonderful, fantastical, wearable-arts performance on Oct. 24 at the Mariner Theater in Homer.

We extend our warmest gratitude for the continued generosity of individuals, groups and foundations to the Artist in Schools projects: the Alaska State Council on the Arts, National Endowment for the Arts, Rasmussen Foundation, Bunnell Street Arts Center, Jazzline and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, for their steadfast support of the arts in our local schools.
