Homer raises more than $3,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Homer stands out as a major contributor to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska’s Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser, due to the efforts of Gina Pelaia and her team, the Rolling Realtors.

The Homer community’s Big Brother Big Sister branch held the event on April 2 and had seven teams participating, according to the Bowl for Kids’ Sake website.

The teams raised a total of $3,540, with $3,070 of the money raised solely by The Rolling Realtors. Not only did the Rolling Realtors raise the most money in Homer, but they are the top fundraising team in the entire state of Alaska.

Pelaia is also listed as second highest fundraising individual in the state for raising $1,850.

The fundraiser spans nine communities in Alaska: Juneau, Ketchikan, Hoonah, Homer, Sitka, Haines, Fairbanks, Mat-Su and Anchorage. Each community holds their own bowling event with teams that raise money for the Big Brother Big Sister organization.
