Kilcher withdraws Fox River Flats application for wilderness camp

Reality TV star Atz Kilcher withdrew last week an application to lease state land in the Fox River Flats for an art and music wilderness camp. Candace Snow, a natural resources specialist with the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, said Kilcher pulled his application on Dec. 10.

Kilcher sought permission to use state land near Sheep Creek for a camp to bring young people into the wilderness at the head of Kachemak Bay and inspire them to create music and art. Kilcher is one of the stars of the Discovery Channel show “Alaska: The Last Frontier,” which follows the Kilcher family on their homestead east of Homer. He also is an accomplished musician and artist.
