Listen as kids inspire kids at these free, family concerts

The Homer Youth String Orchestra Club (HYSOC) believes that kids inspire kids. HYSOC would like to thank the Homer Foundation’s Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) and their generous donors and the Sheldon Youth to Youth Fund for believing in our mission.

We received a $500 grant to purchase music for the 2015-2016 season, resulting in an exciting and diverse group of songs to choose from for our performances. You will hear everything from Mozart and Telemann to fiddle tunes and Star Wars at our upcoming concerts.

The money from the YAC grant also lightens our financial burden and in turn we can pass that savings on to our members, keeping quality string instruction more affordable.

Two free family friendly performances are coming up in April. At 5 p.m. Friday, we will be playing at Paul Banks Elementary for their First Friday Event. Then at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10, we will be playing our Spring Concert program at the High School Commons.

Several current members of the orchestra were sparked to play music after attending a HYSOC concert when they were younger.  Who knows?  Maybe your child will be next!  Of course, we welcome all ages at our concerts, as we know music is just plain good for the soul.

So, come enjoy some great music played by our own local youth orchestra and get inspired.
