Two separate vehicle crashes in Homer sent three people to the hospital. Last Friday, June 30, at about 7:15 a.m. a driver lost control of his truck on Diamond Ridge Road and went into the ditch near Shelton Drive and had to be taken to South Peninsula Hospital. On the Fourth of July, two people were taken to the hospital after an SUV hit a motorhome about 2 p.m. as the motorhome turned into the Baycrest Hill viewpoint. None of the victims had life-threatening injuries.

In the Diamond Ridge Road incident, Alaska State Troopers said the driver, Christopher Alfano, 45, of Homer, has a revoked license until 2083 for a prior conviction of driving under the influence. A criminal charge of driving with a revoked license is being forwarded to the district attorney’s office. Alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

In the photo at right, Kachemak Emergency Services Deputy Chief Joe Salee inspects a silver truck that went into the ditch at Diamond Ridge Road and Shelton Drive. The truck carved a tunnel through alders before it came to a stop.
