Get ready, Anchor Point — Snow Rondi returns in just a couple weeks, bigger and better than ever.

An annual winter tradition, this year’s schedule brings new and old events back to the community, including the Snow Rondi Ball and others hosted at new participating business, the Angry Salmon.

Organized by the Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce, Snow Rondi also incorporates efforts of the larger community. Local businesses and organizations including Chapman School, the Virl “Pa” Haga VFW Post 10221 and the Anchor Point Community and Senior Center are involved with the planning and sponsoring of additional events on the schedule.

The Snow Rondi Ball will be held on Friday, Feb. 28 from 7-11 p.m., with family-friendly attendance held from 7-9 p.m. After 9 p.m., only attendees aged 21 and older will be allowed.

An old Snow Rondi tradition, the Ball was once held annually at the former Anchor River Inn — now the Angry Salmon — before going on hiatus for several years.

Admission to the ball is $10. Music will be provided by Homer’s DJ JerBear.

The Cabin Fever Variety show returns to Chapman School on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. Admission is $2; this event is open to all community members. Concessions will also be available.

Applications to perform in the variety show remain open through Feb. 15.

Also held at Chapman this year are the longtime traditions of the pinewood car derby and dog show.

Anchor Point’s annual Community Awards will be presented at the VFW on Saturday, March 1 at 7 p.m.
