The state Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation is currently recruiting board members for three Kenai Peninsula citizen advisory boards.
Seats are available on the Seward, Kenai River Special Management Area and Kachemak Bay boards.
Ricky Gease, state parks director, in a Jan. 15 press release urged community members to consider volunteering their time.
“Citizen Advisory Boards play an important role in assisting Alaska State Parks with management direction and provide the public with an opportunity to influence outdoor recreation policy in their regions,” he said.
Areas of interest that potential advisory board members can list on their applications include park planning, fieldwork in parks, grant writing, public education, legislation, tourism resources, protection/conservation, budget/funding, site planning/development, and historic preservation/research and writing.
Locals interested in applying for one of the citizen advisory board seats may apply online or by contacting the Kenai/Prince William Sound regional headquarters at 907-262-5581.
