Third candidate files for council

Homer City Council member Bryan Zak has filed as a city council candidate in the upcoming Oct. 1 election. Two council seats are on the ballot, each a three-year term: the seat currently held by Zak and the seat currently held by James Dolma. Also declaring their candidacy for the two council seats are Corbin Arno and Gus Van Dyke. The filing deadline is 5 p.m.
Aug. 15.  

Other seats on the ballot are:

• Three Kachemak City Council seats, each three-year terms, the filing deadline is Sept. 11;

• Kenai Peninsula Borough School Board seat, District 9, the southern Kenai Peninsula, a three-year term, filing deadline 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15;

• Two Anchor Point Fire and Emergency Medical Service Area Board seats, one one-year term and one three-year term, filing deadline 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15;

• Two Kachemak Emergency Service Area Board seats, each two-year terms, filing deadline 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15;

• Three Seldovia Recreational Service Area Board seats, two three-year terms and one one-year term, filing deadline 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15;

• Four South Kenai Peninsula Hospital Service Area Board seats, one two-year term and three three-year-terms, filing deadline 4:30 p.m. Aug. 15.
