Homer resident, Mr. D. Grant Stroup, 69, died Friday, May 25, 2018 at South Peninsula Hospital – Long Term Care in Homer.

No services are planned at this time.

Grant was born April 26, 1949 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He graduated high school and later received a 3-year college degree in geology. He served in the U.S. Navy until he was honorably discharged. In 1983 he moved to Homer. Grant loved gold mining, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, karate, flying as a pilot, bowling and had a custom ammo reloading business in Homer.

The family wrote, “Many smiles turned, every wrinkle earned. He was a fearless adventurer that laughed at everything.”

He was preceded in death by his father, Carey D. Stroup; brother, Wm Carey (Bic) Stroup; and nephew, Alexander S. Stroup.

He is survived by his mother, Theodora Bowden of Homer; sister, Kat Stroup of Homer; nephew, Wm Clayton Stroup of Chicago, Illinois; and grandnieces, Tabitha Stroup and Sabrina Stroup both of Springfield, Oregon.
