Duane “Slim” Miller Harvey Jr.

August, 18, 1942 – January, 21, 2026

Longtime Anchor Point, Alaska, resident Duane “Slim” Miller Harvey Jr., 83, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, following a lengthy illness.

Duane was born August 18, 1942, in Klamath Falls, Oregon, to Duane Miller Harvey Sr. (“Pinky”) and Evelyn Priscilla Miller. Raised in Klamath Falls, he graduated from Klamath Union High School in 1960.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, stationed in Hawaii and Japan, where he became an interpreter, Duane returned to Oregon. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad in Klamath and later for Eastern Air Lines, based in Portland. Driven by his passion for travel and aviation, he enrolled in flight school in 1968 and earned both private and commercial pilot ratings.

Duane relocated to Alaska, where he made his home for the better part of 45 years. During that time, he flew as a bush pilot to remote islands across the Kenai Peninsula, embracing the adventure and independence of Alaska life. In his later years, he and his longtime partner, Susan Fritsch, settled in Anchor Point, Alaska, where they owned and operated Trails End Real Estate.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents and by Susan Fritsch.

He is survived by his brother, Dwight Lyle Harvey of Aloha, Oregon; his sister, Priscilla Diane Morris of Gold Beach, Oregon; his children, Justin Harvey and Heather Harvey of Boise, Idaho; and five grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at Hyatt Lake, Or.
