Laura Elizabeth deLumeau (Boyd) died on Oct. 27, 2013, with her brother and daughter by her side.
Laura was born on April 3, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pa. It was there that she met Gary deLumeau and they moved to Somers Point, N.J., where they got married and had one daughter. In 1988, Laura and her daughter moved to Pompano Beach, Fla., to care for her mother who had breast cancer. Laura was proud to own and operate an Ace Hardware store in Boca Raton, Fla., where she enjoyed helping her customers. In 2005, she moved to Anchor Point with her daughter. She wasn’t so fond of the cold so she moved to Waianae, Hawaii, in 2009 with her brother and family. She came back to Alaska in 2012 to visit and was never well enough to return to Hawaii. Laura fought a hard fight, having three occurrences of breast cancer and other complications.
“She loved whales, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and meeting new people,” her family said. “Laura loved talking to strangers.”
