HHA, Divas host Winter Jamboree

The Kevin Bell Arena will be busy this weekend, as women hockey players from around the state meet to create a spectacular display of hockey talent.

The Homer Hockey Association and the Homer Divas Women’s Hockey announce the seventh annual Winter Jamboree hockey tournament scheduled to take place Jan. 13-15 at the ice arena on the Homer Spit.

More than 90 women from all over the state will be demonstrating their talents and sportsmanship as they compete in this 16 game tournament. This tournament has grown enormously over the past three years and doubled the amount of players coming from all Palmer, Wasilla, Fairbanks, Soldotna, Kenai, and Anchorage to play in Homer.

The first game begins at 6:15 p.m. Friday.

In addition to an exciting three days of competition, this is a major fundraising opportunity for the rink and the Homer Divas Hockey team. There will be a fundraising party Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight at Beluga Lake Lodge for teams and supporters with a silent auction and Homer’s best DJCJ . The proceeds will go back into the rink to help lower costs for ice time.

The tournament is sponsored by Beluga Lake Lodge and teams are sponsored by Homer’s Jeans, Fritz Creek, Grace Ridge Brewery and the Salty Dawg.

More information can be found on the Homer Hockey Association website at www.kevinbellarena.org.
