Hockey dreams granted

The Homer Hockey Association has been awarded a grant from the National Hockey League’s Golden Dreams Program to provide 20 new sets of gear for HHA’s “Ice Breakers” program, formerly known as “Hockey For the Fun Of It,” for boys and girls 8-13 years of age.

“We’re excited to have the gear available to kids,” said Emilie Otis, HHA spokesperson.

The equipment will include helmets, under- and outerwear, skates and sticks.

“We’re super excited about the program,” said Otis. “They’ll meet for the next six weeks starting Feb. 14, on Saturdays from 2-3 p.m.”

The one exception to the schedule is March 14, when the program does not meet.
