Mariners win over Barrow at homecoming

The Mariners wrapped up a spot in the Division II playoffs by toppling the Whalers on Friday for homecoming.

Homer finished Mid Alaska Conference play at 3-1 and also moves to 5-1 overall. Barrow falls to 0-2 in the league and 2-2 overall.

Mariner quarterback Carter Tennison got the score rolling in the first quarter with a 52-yard pass to Morgan Techie. The Mariners passed for 248 yards and ran for 222 yards for 470 yards total while the Whalers passed for 160 yards and ran for 247 yards for 407 yards total.

In total, Tennison scored four rushing and two passing TDs.

With this result, the Mariners clinched a home playoff game.
