Middle school hoopsters take aim at Chapman tournament

Middle school boys and girls teams representing six Kenai Peninsula schools begin today the three-day 2013 Small Schools Basketball Tournament at Chapman School in Anchor Point.

Playing are the Aurora Borealis Polar Bears, Chapman Eagles, Cook Inlet Academy Eagles, Nikolaevsk Warriors, Ninilchik Wolverines and Seldovia Sea Otters.

The Chapman Eagles will be easy to spot in new uniforms purchased with help from the school’s parent group, Angela McKinney and Pat Ligenza of Blackwater Bend Espresso.

The tournament game schedule is:

 

Today:

Girls game 1:
Ninilchik vs. Chapman, 2:30 p.m.;

Boys game 2:
Chapman vs. Seldovia, 4 p.m.;

Girls game 3:
Aurora Borealis vs. Cook Inlet Academy, 5:30 p.m.;

Boys game 4:
Nikolaevsk vs. Aurora Borealis, 7 p.m.

 

Friday:

Girls game 5:
Loser of game 1 vs. loser of game 3, 2:30 p.m.;

Boys game 6:
Loser of game 2 vs. loser of game 4, 4 p.m.;

Girls game 7:
Nikolaevsk team no. 1 vs. winner of game 1, 5:30 p.m.;

Boys game 8:
CIA team no. 1 vs. winner of game 2, 7 p.m..

 

Saturday:

Girls game 9:
Loser of game 7 vs. winner of game 5, 10 a.m.;

Boys game 10:
Loser of game 8 vs. winner of game 6, 11:30 a.m.;

Girls game 11:
Winner of game 7 vs. winner of game 3, 1 p.m.;

Boys game 12:
Winner of game 8 vs. winner of game 4, 2:30 p.m.
