After 84 years, a local woman was able to cross a major item off her bucket list with the help of staff from South Peninsula Hospital.

Betty George, 84, took a ride in a helicopter from the hospital helipad on Feb. 6, courtesy of Maritime Helicopters.

“She’d always wanted to get to ride in a helicopter, but never had the chance, so the nursing staff at SPH made it happen for her,” according to an email from Derotha Ferraro, director of public relations for the hospital.

Also along for the ride were Activity Aide Allicia Raymond, Activity Coordinator Susan Hubbard and her grandson-in-law, Danny.
