Christie Davis Gates

December 13, 1956 – May 21, 2025

Christie Davis Gates, 68, of Homer, Alaska, passed away peacefully at home on May 21, 2025, from complications of pancreatic cancer. Born on December 13, 1956, in Anchorage, Alaska, Christie was a lifelong Alaskan who cherished her family, her community, and the quiet joys of a creative life.

A proud graduate of Lathrop High School, Class of 1974, Christie embraced life with warmth, resilience, and grace. She was retired but found great fulfillment in her artistic pursuits—particularly playing the piano and painting with watercolors—passions that brought beauty and serenity to her days and to those around her.

Christie lived in Kachemak Bay for 38 years. She led an adventurous life, canoeing wild and remote Alaskan rivers, skiing mountains and glaciers, both cross-country and downhill. She loved to travel and had been to Europe, Africa, South America, and Central America—enjoying people, cultures, climates, and exploring ancient ruins and many tropical secrets.

She had a great love of nature, birds, and animals, and found great joy in her flower garden.

Christie was a devoted wife to her husband, Ty Gates, and a loving mother to her three children: Callie Hauser (Mike), Dawson Gates (Marnie), and Hannah Gates. Her love extended deeply to her grandchildren—Radko, Rhone, Tygian, and Legend—who brought her endless pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ron Davis, and is survived by her mother, Lou Davis. Christie also leaves behind her siblings—Todd Davis, Holly French, Trina Owens, and Josh Davis—as well as many loving nieces and nephews who will remember her kind heart and gentle spirit.

Christie’s life was a beautiful testament to creativity, compassion, adventure, and the enduring bonds of family. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.

A celebration of life will be held on July 22, 2025, from 2-4 pm at the Aspen Hotel in Homer, Alaska. All who knew and loved Christie are welcome to join in honoring her memory. Christie’s favorite treat was chocolate—if you’d like to bring a dessert that incorporates chocolate, please feel free to do so.
