Aleutian Airways will be returning to Homer on Nov. 1, a July 25 press release said.
The airline suspended service to Homer on April 15 for the duration of the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Homer Airport improvement project, Homer News previously reported. A final, 72-hour runway closure is scheduled for Oct. 7-11.
The service halt was due to the reduction of the Homer Airport runway from 150 feet wide to 50 feet wide, a configuration which falls short of Aleutian Airways’ allowable operating parameters.
According to the release, scheduled Saab 2000 service providing a “quick 40-minute journey” between Anchorage and Homer will once again be available, restoring “much-needed travel options for residents and visitors.”
A new flight schedule will offer two round-trip flights from Anchorage Monday through Friday, and one round-trip flight on weekends:

An additional change from last year’s service is that guests can now earn Alaska Airline miles on flights when booked through alaskaair.com. Tickets may also be purchased directly through flyaleutian.com, online travel agency sites and through local travel agents.
Aleutian Airways CEO and President Wayne Heller expressed his enthusiasm for the airline’s return to Homer in the release.
“After our initial launch to the market last fall, we were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our guests and the warm welcome from the Homer community,” he said. “We are thrilled to return and continue serving our valued guests, ensuring they have access to the travel options they need and deserve.”
