Happy New Year!

Fourth annual Fireworks Fantastical lights up the sky over Homer Spit.

Clear weather and a lull before a windstorm on New Year’s Eve allowed the fourth annual Fireworks Fantastical to happen as planned. Organizer Aaron Weisser wrote that 119 people donated more than $15,000 to the crowdfunded display, with help from more than 40 volunteers to make it happen.

Cars and spectators filled Mariner Park and lined the Homer Spit Road for the event. People also watched from viewing points along the bluff and hills overlooking Kachemak Bay, with even a few spectators on boats.
