Homer high interviews vice principals candidates

The Kenai Peninsula District School District is looking to make a decision on a new assistant principal for Homer High School by the end of the week, Assistant Superintendent Kari Dendurent said during Monday afternoon interviews of the four candidates.

The candidates, interviewed by Homer High School Principal Doug Waclawski via Zoom, are Aubrie Ellis, Samuel White, Jessie Felice and Katie Bynagle.

Ellis is currently teaching in Kaiserslautern, Germany, at the Department of Defense Education Academy but has Alaska experience in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District.

White is a secondary teacher in Thorne Bay, Alaska.

Felice is currently the administrative substitute/intern at Homer High School. Bynagle is currently working as an interventionist and Title 1 coordinator at West Homer Elementary.

Candidate CV details were available for Zoom attendants to browse during interviews on Monday.

The meeting was open to about 65 additional listeners who were provided the opportunity to comment on candidates through an online survey that was due no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday. Questions asked listeners to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of each candidates interview responses. A final question asks, “which candidate do you feel is best suited for the position?”
