Dec. 22 – Jan. 7 — Student Winter Break, no school

Homer Middle School:

Tuesday and Thursday there is math tutoring with Mr. Seaton at 8 a.m. in room 204.

Monday through Friday tutoring takes place from 8-8:55 a.m. in the Library

Monday, Jan. 8 — Volleyball Intramurals through Jan. 26th Competitive plays start Jan 29th through Mar. 3rd

Wrestling ends Feb. 24.

Nordic Skiing ends March 3.

Wednesday, Jan. 10 — AK to DC/2019 at 5 p.m.

Thursday, Jan. 11 — AK to DC/2018 at 6 p.m. Also, 2nd Quarter Honor Roll Assembly at 11:45 a.m.

Paul Banks Elementary:

Monday, Jan. 8 — First day back to school after Winter Break

West Homer Elementary:

Monday, Jan. 8 — Change in Dismissal Time: Starting Jan. 8, the school’s new dismissal time will be 2:40 p.m.. Staff are excited about this change as they will be gaining 5 minutes of instructional time each day. As it stands right now, during that 5 minutes, students are waiting in the hall for a bus instead of in class learning. This will not change any of the bus pick up or drop off times. They will continue to arrive at West Homer at 2:40 p.m. as they have been.

McNeil Canyon Elementary:

Monday, Jan. 8 — After School Skiing (for Grades K-6) and Forensics (for Grades 4-6) will begin. Permission slips are available in the office.

Tuesday, Jan. 9 — no band practice.

Wednesday, Jan. 10 — There will be a combined band practice. After School Skating (for Grades K-6) and Time for Tinkering (for Grades 3-6) will also begin. Permission slips are available in the office.

Friday, Jan 12 —Students in fourth through sixth grade are invited to participate in both the Spelling Bee and the Geography Bee. The Geography Bee will be held on Friday, Jan. 12. Go to for information to help you study. The Spelling Bee will be held on Friday, Feb. 16. You can go to students for study tips or for free online access to 2017 Spell It!
