Drew John Brown

Nov. 15, 1996-Dec. 22, 2021

Drew John Brown was in a traffic accident on the evening of Solstice and his spirit passed early that next morning, Dec. 22, 2021.

Drew was born to Kristen Fenske and Jim Brown on Nov. 15, 1996, in Portland, Maine. A gifted athlete, Drew excelled at hockey, basketball and soccer, and dabbled in football, volleyball and disc golf. Drew was the quintessential teammate, and his spirit and tenacity inspired all those who battled alongside him. He graduated from Homer High School in 2015, and has since worked on commercial fishing boats and in the food service industry, where he honed his cooking skills and finally settled at South Peninsula Hospital during his brief life.

When Drew walked into a room, his spirit brightened all who were present, and he quietly insisted on kindness and care for all he knew. His combination of toughness and love for others, as well as his contagious positive attitude will be remembered and will live on in those he knew. He had an infectious smile and bounding energy that encouraged all to give their best effort no matter the circumstances. That energy endeared him to all who befriended him, and he had many friends. Drew was loved, respected and even revered by those he touched.

Drew is survived by his mother Kristen (Kurt St. Jean), his father Jim, loving sister Lyndsay (Johann Kallelid) and nephew Mason; grandmother Donna Fenske; uncles and aunts Tim and Autumn Brown, Dina and Lou Marion, Craig Smith and Diane Ferris, Kevin and Lynne Smith; cousins Caitlyn and Nicole Brown, Colby and Ridge Marion, Shannon Smith, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from Alaska to Maine, and of course his dog Tobie.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Jan. 8, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the SPARC building. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Drew Brown Memorial Fund at First National Bank Alaska.
