Patty Ann (Jones) Williams

March 11, 1942 – July 17, 2016

Patty Ann (Jones) Williams, 74, born March 11, 1942, died in Sweet Home, Ore., on July 17, 2016 from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and congestive heart failure.

In 1944, Patty arrived in Homer at the age of 2 with her parents on a steam ship at the end of the Homer Spit. Patty attended grade school and high school in Homer, until her junior year. In 1959 Patty and her family moved to Chehalis, Wash., where she graduated from high school.

Patty met Richard Williams in 1958 and they were married in Chehalis, Wash., in 1960. Patty and Richard returned to Alaska in the fall of 1960, where they lived, until Richard retired from the Alaska Department of Transportation after 30 years of employment.

In 1991 they moved to Sweet Home, Ore., where they have lived until Patty’s passing. Patty and Richard were married for 56 wonderful years.

Patty’s interests and hobbies were quilting, sewing, and many other arts and crafts.

Patty was preceded in death by her father Ora Jones; her mother, Florence Elliott; brother, Dan Jones; and two sisters, Marilyn Ohlde, and Sarah Fischer.

Patty is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richard; sons, Ken and Gary; and her daughter Sheila Huber.

Patty had four grandchildren, three great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on July 23, 2016, at Patty and Richard’s home in Sweet Home.

As per Patty’s request, her ashes will be spread on the Homer Spit where she arrived in 1944.
