Robert “Scott” Gutierrez, passed away on June 4, 2025 at the age of 54 after a short illness. His family was at his side, heartbroken by his passing. He was born on May 12, 1971 in Anchorage, Alaska and attended Huffman Elementary School and Hanshew/Service High School, graduating in 1989. At Service High, he played varsity soccer and was well known for his athletic ability and love of sports. Growing up on the Anchorage hillside with his brother, David, Scott made many lifelong friends and spent his early years exploring the Alaskan wilderness with his family.
After high school, Scott attended Concordia College in Portland, Oregon where he played soccer with friend and teammate, Tim Valesko. A gifted athlete, he continued to excel at soccer and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he coached and played for a semi-pro league. Scott also played semipro soccer in Australia in the mid 90s. Scott’s love of sports was evident in his commitment to his beloved Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Chiefs. He collected sports memorabilia and attended many games.
In 2011, Scott relocated to Williston, North Dakota to work for Baker Hughes in drilling equipment repair. He earned many industry certifications in this demanding field. Scott continued to work through the oil boom there, making many friends, and always making his presence known around town in his sleek Corvette. Scott was also an avid snow machiner and always ready for the next adventure. He continued to make Williston his home until his death.
Scott was always the life of the party and shared his infectious joy with others. His wide circle of friends is a testament to his giving nature and bold spirit. He was well known for his generosity and leaves behind many friends and family who are heartbroken at this loss.
Scott is survived by his daughter, Madison, brother, David, sister-in-law, Amy, and father, Dave Eberle, along with extended family in Mississippi and friends around the country. He was predeceased by his loving mother, Charlotte, who passed away in 2022. Please join us for a celebration of Scott’s life on Sunday, July 13 at the Peanut Farm in Anchorage from 4pm to 6pm.
