Recycling E-waste

There was a record turnout for Cook Inletkeeper’s 10th Annual Homer Electronics Recycling Event held Saturday at Spenard Builders Supply. More than 160 individuals and businesses kept more than a dozen Cook Inletkeeper volunteers busy, taking steps to ensure potentially toxic electronic waste stays out of Kenai Peninsula landfills. Approximately 45 pallets of old computers, TVs, printers, and miscellaneous electronic items — including 12 pallets from the communities of Seldovia, Port Graham, and Nanwalek — were collected and will be transported to Anchorage and Seattle for recycling.
