Skate, eat, dance your way into ’15

With New Year’s Eve in the middle of the week next Wednesday, Homer revelers can choose from celebrations from sedate to rowdy. This year, two old favorites are back with the return of Edible Arts at Bunnell Street Arts Center and the reopening under new management of Alice’s Champagne Palace.

Those wanting a more low-key, early celebration can start New Year’s Eve out with skating at the Kevin Bell Ice Arena. Work off holiday pounds starting at 3 p.m. For art you can eat as well as admire, the viewing is 6-8 p.m. at Bunnell Street Arts Center followed by devouring of art from 8-9 p.m. Cruise next door to AJ’s Old Town Steakhouse and Tavern for music by Johnny B. Raise a glass and celebrate the New Year with friends back east on their time zone at 8 p.m.

The serious dancing and music starts at 9 p.m. with Los Holy Santos Gang at Alice’s followed by bands and DJs starting at 10 p.m. at The Alibi, Kharacters and the Down East Saloon.
