Todd Jacobson wins king salmon derby with 26-pound catch

The Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce awarded more than $10,500 in awards and payouts for the 26th annual Anchor Point King Salmon Derby and Calutta May 15.

Seventy-six anglers participated in this year’s king salmon derby, and 33 fish were weighed in.

“Congratulations to our Anchor Point King Salmon Derby and Calcutta winners! A very successful event and fundraiser for the Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce,” said Dawson Slaughter, Anchor Point Chamber of Commerce president, in an email. “Thank you anglers and local businesses for your support!”

This year’s first place fish was caught by Todd Jacobson on the Hurt Locker with a 26.65 pound catch. Jacobson earned $2,204 for his king salmon. Second place went to Erica Walli on Reflections for her 25.7 pound catch for which she earned $1,064. Third place was awarded to Kelsey Deiman on Tin Man for her 20.2 pound king salmon. She earned $608.

Cindy Merrill, fishing on Outlaw, won the average fish award for a 13.75 pound catch, receiving $456. Cody Thomas won the youth angler prize for his 11.4 pound catch.

This year’s Calcutta winner was Todd Bareman, who earned more than $2,600.
