Two file for city council

The Homer City Council candidacy filing period for the Oct. 5, 2021 municipal election opened Aug. 1, and applications will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16.

Three seats on the city council are up for election this October, including current council members Heath Smith and Donna Aderhold’s seats. Two seats are for three-year terms, and recently-resigned council member Joey Evensen’s seat is up for election as a one-year term.

As of Aug. 3, Donna Aderhold has filed for candidacy of a three-year term, and Heath Smith filed for the one-year term. Aderhold and Smith have both served two three-year terms.

Applications are available at City Hall in the city clerk’s office or online at www.cityofhomer-ak.gov/cityclerk/city-council-candidate-filing-open-august-1-16. Applications can be turned in online, but the city clerk must have a notarized copy for the candidacy to be official.
