Neil James Kinney, age 75, passed away at home in Anchor Point, Alaska on August 26th, 2025.

Neil was born on November 26, 1949, in Seattle, Washington to Herbert & Marie (Stith) Kinney. He and his younger brother, Glen, grew up and attended school in the Seattle area. Neil’s love and passion for nature and living off the land led him to join several friends and move to the wilds of the Yukon in Canada after graduating from high school. In the ‘70s, he lived in several rural locations while working on surveying teams in the northern part of Alaska, including the North Slope. He later came to the Kenai Peninsula, continuing to work on surveying teams around Ninilchik.

Neil learned of God’s true way and made his choice to serve God in 1983. Not long after that, Neil met his wife, Marsha and they were married in August of 1987. They settled in Anchor Point on the Kenai Peninsula, where they had two sons, Kevin and Nathan. Neil worked at the South Peninsula Hospital in Homer for several years and then at the Homer High School and West Homer Elementary.

Neil is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marsha Kinney, and their two sons, Kevin Kinney and Nathan Kinney, as well as his brother, Glen (Wanda) Kinney. He also leaves behind many special friends, especially those who were instrumental in bringing him to God’s way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Marie Kinney.

Funeral Service will be on Saturday, September 6th, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the auditorium at Chapman Elementary School, 34215 Sterling Hwy, Anchor Point, AK 99556 with finger foods and a potluck immediately following the service.
