In the fifth of 10 events scheduled for the 2014 sailing season, the Homer Yacht Club timed its Fourth of July race on July 5, avoiding conflicts with the busy Independence Day schedule of activities. Nine boats completed the 9.6 nautical-mile course with the following results:
First place: Morning Star;
Second place: Winter Hawk;
Third place: Sea Sound;
Fourth place: Dolphin;
Fifth place: Martha J;
Sixth place: Hemingway;
Seventh place: Arctica;
Eighth place: Dawg’s Life;
Ninth place: Freedom 2.
