‘Little Women’ opens this weekend

The stage adapation of Louis M. Alcott’s novel “Little Women” opens this weekend at Pier One Theatre. Written for the stage by Peter Clapham, and directed by Amy Johnson, the dramtization of the beloved novel tells the story of the March girls – Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy – and Laurie, the boy next door, as they grow up happily together. While their father is away serving as a chaplain in the Civil War, the sisters struggle to support themselves and keep their household running despite the fact that the family recently lost its fortune. As the girls grow older, each faces her own personal demons and moral challenges.

The play features Brenda Dolma as Mrs. March, and Katia Holmes, Chloe Pleznac, Ireland Styvar and Indigo Sonneborn as the March sisters. Michael McKinney is Mr. March, Mary Jane Shows is Aunt March and veteran Pier One actor Peter Norton plays Mr. Lawrence. Also appearing are Reece Cowan, Lydia Thomas and Zed Perkins. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sundy and June 13, 14 and 15. Tickets are $15 general admission, $14 seniors, $13 Raven’s Club, $10 youth and $55 family, on sale at the Homer Bookstore, Sea Lion Art and Lodging and the door.
