Aug. 17

A caller at 10:34 a.m. reported a theft from a vehicle on Sabrina Road. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 1:46 p.m. made a Report Every Dangerous Driver Immediately (REDDI) report on a driver at Heath Street and Pioneer Avenue. An officer contacted the driver and didn’t note any impairment.

A caller at 3:05 p.m. reported a vehicle collision that had caused damage, at Ben Walters Lane and East End Road. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 5:22 p.m. reported an inoperable vehicle sitting on Homer Bypass Road. An officer responded but didn’t find the vehicle.

A caller at 5:32 p.m. reported excessive noise coming from the park area on Jack Gist Lane. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 8:56 p.m. reported an open manhole on Rangeview Avenue. An officer went to the scene but didn’t find an open manhole.

A caller at 9:54 p.m. reported hearing possible gunshots in the area of his home on East End Road. An officer went to investigate but didn’t find any evidence of gunshots.

Aug. 18

A caller at 2:03 a.m. reported a domestic assault at Mile 3 Spit Road. An officer went to the scene, talked to the people involved and found the report was unfounded.

A caller at 4:27 a.m. reported a woman had thrown a rock through his window on Klondike Avenue. Officers went to the scene and arrested the 46-year-old woman for criminal mischief.

Aug. 19

A caller at 6:45 a.m. reported having information about a possible domestic violence situation. An officer at the police station later took a report from a woman involved in the incident.

A caller at 8:42 a.m. reported two people in a car hitting each other on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene.

Aug. 20

A caller at 2:07 a.m. reported a car with suspicious men in it “prowling in the area” on Spit Road. Officers responded and contacted the men in the vehicle. Both men were arrested and charged with two counts of fourth-degree theft.

A caller at 2:43 a.m. reported a suspicious circumstance on Ohlson Lane. An officer responded.

A caller at 8:03 a.m. reported a man in a dumpster on Ohlson Lane who was refusing to leave. An officer went to the scene and arrested a 46-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman for trespassing.

A caller at 11:31 a.m. reported two men riding razor scooters down the middle of the road at West Hill Road and Highland Drive. An officer went to the area but the drivers were gone.

A caller at 12:42 p.m. reported that an intoxicated couple ordered food on Spit Road and left driving an orange van. Officers responded, found the vehicle, and arrested the 31-year-old driver for driving under the influence.

A caller at 4:16 p.m. reported a vehicle parked in a no-parking area at Main Street and Ohlson Lane and that there was a lot of foot traffic to and from the vehicle from a residence. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 6:48 p.m. made a REDDI report on a driver at Pioneer Avenue and Shelford Street. An officer contacted the driver and advised them about their driving habits.

A caller at 5:51 p.m. reported a man and woman fighting on the side of the road at East End Road and Sabrina Road. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 7:12 p.m. observed a person violating a temporary restraining order on Mt. Augustine Drive. The 53-year-old man was arrested for violating conditions of release, violating the temporary restraining order and fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.

A caller at 8:25 p.m. reported a man actively stealing items from longterm parking on Kachemak Drive. Officers went to the area and arrested the 33-year-old man for fourth-degree theft and three counts of vehicle tampering.

A caller at 10:44 p.m. reported a vehicle in the ditch on East End Road. An officer went to the scene.

Aug. 21

A caller at 11:16 a.m. reported a vehicle collision at West Hill Road and Eric Lane. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 1:04 p.m. reported that a woman with an arrest warrant was at a local business on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene but the call was unfounded.

A caller at 1:47 p.m. made a REDDI report on a driver on Ben Walters Lane. An officer went to the scene but didn’t note any impairment. The vehicle was impounded.

A caller at 5:07 p.m. reported a minor shoplifting at a business on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller from a business on Homer Bypass Road at 8:59 p.m. reported a man harassing customers. Officers responded and advised the man he was trespassed from the business indefinitely.

A caller at 10 p.m. reported a firearm discharge within city limits at Ben Walters Lane and Hillfair Court. An officer went to the location but couldn’t find evidence of a firearm discharge.

Aug. 22

A caller at 4:14 a.m. reported suspicious activity on West Bunnell Street. Officers went to the scene.

A caller at 7:16 a.m. reported a man causing a disturbance on Ben Walters Lane. Officers responded and trespassed the man from the area.

A caller at 10:06 a.m. reported hearing shots being fired in the area on Kachemak Drive. An officer went to the area, found the people involved and advised them about the city ordinance regarding guns.

A caller at 2:29 p.m. reported a vehicle collision that had caused damage on Lake Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 2:54 p.m. made a REDDI report for a reckless driver at Pioneer Avenue and Homer Bypass Road. An officer contacted the driver.

A caller at 5:25 p.m. reported three minors on the water tower on Dehel Avenue. An officer went to the scene but they were already gone.

A caller at 7:45 p.m. reported a suspicious vehicle on Homer Bypass Road. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 12:12 a.m. reported a suspicious circumstance on Lake Shore Drive. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 3:57 a.m. reported an argument between two people outside of a business on Shelford Street. Officers went to the location and found everything was OK.

A caller at 3:43 p.m. reported a domestic dispute on Lake Street. An officer responded.

A caller at 3:57 p.m. reported a hit and run at Lake Street and Homer Bypass Road that had caused damage. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 8:04 p.m. reported concern for people on Dehel Avenue. An officer went to the scene.

Aug. 24

A caller at 2:10 a.m. reported a dispute at a home on Kachemak Drive. An officer went to the area.

A caller at 2:10 a.m. reported smelling fuel at the Homer Airport. Dispatch contacted airport authorities.

A caller at 7:40 a.m. reported an unapproachable dog in the roadway at Pioneer Avenue and Svedlund Street. An officer went to the scene and left a message for animal control.

A caller at 9:57 a.m. reported her parents were making her move out on Mattox Street.

A caller at 2:32 p.m. reported a vehicle crossing the center lane multiple times from Anchor Point on the way to Homer. Officers contacted the vehicle at Endless View Place and the Sterling Highway and arrested the 38-year-old man who was driving for driving under the influence and took him to the Homer Jail.

A caller at 5:33 p.m. reported a disturbance at a business on Greatland Street. An officer went to the scene and one man was trespassed from the building.

A caller at 7:14 p.m. made a REDDI report on a vehicle at Heath Street and Homer Bypass Road. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Aug. 25

A caller at 5:03 a.m. reported a disturbance in an apartment complex on Ben Walters Lane. An officer went to the scene and contacted the people involved. They agreed to separate for the night.

A caller at 9:59 a.m. reported an unattended death on Glacierview Court. An officer went to the scene.

An officer at 8:51 p.m. contacted a woman at Main Street and Ohlson Lane. The 31-year-old woman was arrested for two outstanding warrants.

Aug. 26

A caller at 12:21 a.m. reported a suspicious vehicle parked on private property on West Bunnell Street. An officer contacted the owner and advised the person to move their vehicle.

A caller at 3:50 a.m. reported an intoxicated man threatening a friend on Main Street. Officers went to the scene and arrested the 32-year-old man for violating probation.

A caller at 7:03 a.m. reported a man outside a business on Homer Bypass Road harassing patrons. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 12:45 p.m. reported a person concealing merchandise inside a store on Greatland Street. An officer went to the scene.

A caller at 6:24 p.m. reported they had “intel regarding drugs” in the area of Main Street and Ohlson Lane.

A caller at 7:05 p.m. reported a vehicle parked on private property at Main Street and Ohlson Lane. An officer responded and gave the man who was in the car a warning.

A caller at 10:26 p.m. reported suspicious activity at Main Street and Bunnell Street. An officer responded.

Aug. 27

A caller at 6:52 a.m. reported a vehicle had been stolen from their home on Spit Road. An officer was notified, the vehicle was recovered, and a 25-year-old man was charged with the theft.

A caller at 9:21 a.m. reported a theft from a vehicle at Spit Road and Freight Dock Road. An officer advised and the same 25-year-old man from the previous entry was charged with three counts of theft and violating conditions of release.

A caller at 11:47 a.m. reported a theft from a vehicle on Spit Road. The same 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with theft and trespassing.

Another agency at 4:55 p.m. passed on a REDDI report on a vehicle inbound to Homer. Officers contacted the vehicle at Mile 168 Sterling Highway.

A caller at 5:39 p.m. requested options regarding the custody of a family pet.

A caller at 7:53 p.m. reported a man was refusing to leave property on Bunnell Street. Officers went to the area.

A caller at 8:45 p.m. reported a woman “not acting right” and possibly under the influence of something at Lake Street and Ocean Drive. An officer went to the area.

Officers at 10:47 p.m. arrested a 51-year-old woman on an arrest warrant on Main Street.

Troopers

Aug. 22

Alaska State Troopers at 8:30 a.m. received a report of a burglary at a fish processing business in Ninilchik. An investigation showed that at about 2:50 a.m. a male entered the business and stole money and food. The male then accessed the commercial freezer where the business stored fish and stole over $85,000 worth of fish and crab. Through information gathered by the business owner and investigation by the Troopers the burglar was identified as a 53-year-old Homer man. He was located and arrested by Troopers on Aug. 24 in Soldotna. Some of the stolen fish was located and recovered at the scene. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Alaska State Troopers.

Aug. 23

Alaska State Troopers at about 8:40 a.m. responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover near mile 155 of the Sterling Highway. An investigation showed a 25-year-old Anchorage man had been driving a truck at a high rate of speed around a curve in the road. The vehicle went into the ditch where it rolled several times. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts and one of the passengers in the vehicle was ejected. Cotney was found to be intoxicated and he was arrested. The two passengers were transported by EMS to the Homer Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Cotney was remanded into the Homer Jail on multiple charges where he was held pending arraignment.

Aug. 24

Alaska State Troopers at 11:38 a.m. responded to a reported burglary on Sibson Drive in Homer. Investigation revealed an unknown person(s) entered the residence and stole a 22 rifle, a MacBook computer and jewelry. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Alaska State Troopers at 262-4453.
