‘Assimilation’ set
for Nov. 27, 28

Bunnell Street Arts Center presents “Assimilation,” a play by Jack Dalton at Bunnell Street Arts Center Nov. 27 and 28. “Assimilation” is a dystopian play about Alaska’s boarding school history, but history is flipped. Natives run the boarding school and whites are being assimilated into Native culture. Each performance is followed by a Talking/Healing Circle and a dessert potluck to begin community dialogues about how we Alaskans can heal from this history.

Dalton said “Assimilation” is more than just a play.

“Addressing Alaska’s boarding school history, this play is recognized as a vital way for all Alaskans to come to grips with this dark chapter of our communal history, and everyone who has seen it, Native and non-Native people alike, see it as an important step in healing from this history,” he said.

Tickets are on sale at Bunnell Street Arts Center and www.bunnellarts.org.
