Homer Volunteer Fire Department

Aug. 1-7

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to four Advanced Life Support emergencies, four Basic Life Support emergencies, for a total of eight EMS related calls. In addition, there were zero fire investigations.

Kachemak Emergency Services

Aug. 1-7

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to six medical calls and two fire calls.

Western Emergency Services

Aug. 1-7

Firefighters and emergency medical technicians responded to 19 medical calls and three fire calls.

Homer Police

Aug. 2

On Aug. 2 at 12:00 p.m., a 60-year-old Homer man turned himself in on a $50 Soldotna AST Failure to Appear Warrant on the Original Charge of Violating a Stalking Order.

Aug. 3

On Aug. 3, 2022 at 5:51 p.m. a 30-year-old Homer man was arrested for VCOR and remanded to Homer Jail.

Aug. 7

On Aug. 7, 2022 at 12:00 a.m. an officer conducts a routine traffic stop. As a result, a 25-year-old Homer man is arrested for Driving Under the influence and remanded to Homer Jail.

Aug. 8

On Aug. 8 at 3:29 p.m. an officer responds to a report of a vehicle theft. As a result a 37-year-old Homer resident is arrested for Vehicle Theft and remanded to Homer Jail.

Aug. 3

On Aug. 3, 2022 at approximately 8:38 p.m., the Alaska State Trooper Anchor Point K9 Team conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Isabelle Road and Sterling Highway for a speeding infraction. Investigation revealed the same vehicle was called in as a REDDI in Homer at approximately 6:36 p.m.. The driver and only occupant was identified as a 37-year-old Ohio man. A search of the vehicle revealed the man was in possession of controlled substances. The man was issued two criminal summons for Misconduct Involving Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree, with a mandatory court date.

On Aug. 3, 2022 at approximately 6:03 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Old Sterling and Sterling Highway in Anchor Point for an equipment violation. Investigation revealed the driver, a 43-year-old Ninilchik man, was operating a vehicle on a revoked license with prior convictions of Driving While License Revoked (DWLR). The man was issued a criminal summons for DWLR with a mandatory court date.

Aug. 7

On Aug. 7, 2022 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Alaska State Troopers in Anchor Point was contacted regarding a possible civil issue. Investigation determined a 44-year-old Homer man damaged the property valued at less than $250 belonging to a family member. During the investigation the man failed to disclose to law enforcement he was in possession of a concealed firearm. The man was arrested and remanded to Homer Jail where he was held without bail for Criminal Mischief 5th (DV) and Misconduct Involving a Weapon 5th.

Aug. 8

On Aug. 8, 2022 at about 3:30 p.m., Soldotna Dispatch received a report of a man who had sexually assaulted a juvenile female. Troopers responded to the area to investigate the allegations. During their investigation Troopers determined that a 30-year-old Homer man had sexually assaulted a juvenile female in a vehicle at a local campsite. Friends of the juvenile female confronted the man after he sexually assaulted her which lead him to physically assault the group that confronted him. He will be remanded into the Homer Jail on charges of 2nd degree sexual assault, 3rd degree assault, 4th degree assault, 1st degree harassment, and violating conditions of release. Alcohol was a contributing factor to this incident.
