All Homer High School Alumni are invited to get out their old letterman jackets and join the Mariner boys and girls basketball teams for an evening of fun, basketball and food — all happening on Saturday, Dec. 26, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Alice Witte Gym, Homer High Schoo.

It’s the Alice Witte/Ron Gribble Alumni Challenge in honor of two people who had a significant impact on Homer’s youth.

“Their time, efforts, and positive encouragement were a model for us all. May all Homer athletes continue to enjoy the sports they choose and as Ron and Alice would say, always ‘hustle up’ and ‘play like crazy,’” according to a press release announcing the event.

At 5 p.m., the alumni men and women will play a blue vs. white scrimmage. At halftime, Homer’s youth basketball players will be showcased. Following this event, the Mariner players will be introduced and will auction off desserts. There will be a taco bar in the commons for $5.

The Mariner teams will play a live scrimmage as well.

The entire community is invited. Alumni who are interested in playing can contact Wendy Todd at 399-4922.  All alumni who are in town are encouraged to be part of the festivities.
