The visiting Kenai Central volleyball team defeated Homer 25-17, 25-15 and 25-9 in Southcentral Conference play Tuesday.
The Kardinals are 6-0 in the league and 9-0 in nontournament play. Kenai has yet to lose a set in nontournament play. The Mariners are 3-2 and 3-4.
Emma Beck had 10 digs and seven kills for Kenai, while Cali Holmes had five kills, Jorgi Phillips had 14 assists, five kills and four aces, and Kim Chanley had 23 digs and six aces. For Homer, Izzy Dye had five kills, Channing Lowney had seven kills and Brooke Shafer had 16 assists.
Friday and Saturday, Homer played in the Lady Grizzly Volleyball Invitational in Anchorage and finished second in the platinum bracket.
In the platinum bracket, Homer lost to Kenai 25-18, 19-25, 3-0, and lost to Valdez 25-15, 25-15.
The bracket was seeded by pool play. Homer was third in Pool B at 6-2. The Mariners beat Grace 25-17, beat Monroe 25-20, beat Wasilla 25-19, lost to Seward 25-23, beat Mt. Edgecumbe 25-13, lost to Palmer 25-23, beat Colony 25-17 and beat Houston 25-7.
Izzy Dye made the all-tournament team for the Mariners.
