The Nikiski girls soccer team earned an at-large berth to the Division II state tournament in Anchorage in brackets announced Monday.

The state berth was the first for a Nikiski girls or boys squad.

The Bulldogs are the No. 8 seed at 3-9-1 and face No. 1 seed Kenai Central, at 16-0-0, in the tourney’s first round.

The Soldotna girls (10-5-0) are the second seed in the tournament, while Homer (6-10-1) is the fifth seed.

In the boys tournament, Soldotna (9-3-3) is third, Kenai Central (10-4-3) is fifth and Homer, an at-large berth, is No. 8 with a 5-8-3 record. The Mariners were last at state in 2019.
