Softball clinic held

On Saturday, July 30, at Karen Hornaday Park, Homer Mariner Softball, in conjunction with Tsunami Softball, hosted a clinic for 32 softball players from across the Kenai Peninsula. Bill Bell, current Mariner Women’s Softball head coach, said this about the event via email:

“This is the first time there has been a local instructional clinic with three high level college coaches: Monica Harrison, Head Coach of Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Beth Krysiak, Pitching Coach at Columbia University in New York and Chris Kuhlmeyer, Head Coach of University of Maryland, Baltimore. In four intense hours players were taken through many aspects of the game, and learned about expectations for playing on after high school. These three coaches are passionate about growing the sport, teaching the life lessons and resiliency training gained from the sport and especially sparking enthusiasm among participants. All three coaches were impressed by the focus and dedication of the local players who rarely getting to see such an advanced level of coaching.”
